Turn Your Newsletter into a Podcast Automatically with n8n and ElevenLabs
You already write a newsletter. A meaningful slice of your audience would rather listen than read — on a commute, at the gym, doing dishes. But standing up a podcast means a mic, recording, editing, and publishing every single week. So most writers never do it, and leave that audience on the table.
With n8n and ElevenLabs, your newsletter becomes a podcast automatically. Every issue you publish is converted to a natural-sounding audio episode and pushed to your podcast feed — no microphone, no editing, no extra weekly work.
What the workflow does
- Detects a new newsletter or blog article
- Cleans the text for audio (strips HTML, expands abbreviations, adds intro/outro)
- Generates a natural voiceover with ElevenLabs
- Uploads the audio file and updates your podcast RSS feed
- Optionally notifies subscribers that a new episode is live

Building it in n8n
1. Trigger on new content
Watch your RSS feed with the RSS Trigger node, or trigger from your CMS webhook when a post publishes. Either way, the new article kicks off the pipeline automatically.
2. Prep the script
Run the article through a Code node (or an LLM) to convert it from "reading text" into "listening text": strip image captions and links, expand "e.g." and "$" into spoken words, and prepend a short branded intro and outro. Audio that's just a literal HTML read sounds robotic; a light rewrite sounds like a show.
3. Generate the voice
Send the cleaned script to the ElevenLabs API via an HTTP Request node. Pick a consistent voice — that voice becomes your show's identity. ElevenLabs returns an MP3.
4. Publish to your feed
Upload the MP3 to your podcast host (or S3/storage), then update your RSS feed with the new episode entry — title, description, audio URL, and publish date. Apple Podcasts and Spotify pull from that feed automatically.
Make it sound like a show, not a robot reading
- Consistent voice and intro — listeners bond with a recognizable sound
- Conversational rewrite — break long sentences, add natural pauses
- Episode-specific titles — not just "Newsletter #47"
- A spoken CTA — "links in the show notes" drives traffic back
Why this is pure upside
You're not creating new content — you're re-distributing content you already made into a format you weren't serving. The marginal cost is a few cents of ElevenLabs credits per episode. The marginal reach is an entire audio audience you couldn't reach before. That's about as clean a ROI as content automation gets.
